Bromley Technical School: Curriculum Policy (2026/2027)
1. Vision and Statutory Context
Bromley Technical School (BTS) provides a full-time education for pupils aged 14–18. This policy is written to ensure compliance with the Independent School Standards and reflects the November 2025 Education Inspection Framework and the July 2025 RSHE Statutory Guidance.
Our curriculum is designed to:
Provide a broad and balanced experience in linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social, physical, and aesthetic/creative areas.
Equip students with "cumulatively sufficient knowledge" for future employment and life in modern Britain.
Actively promote Fundamental British Values and pupils' SMSC development.
2. Inclusion and Accessibility (2025 Priority)
In line with the 2025 focus on Inclusion, BTS ensures that the curriculum is meaningfully adapted— not just accessible—for all learners:
SEND and Disadvantaged Pupils:
Adaptive teaching strategies are used to ensure pupils with SEND and those from disadvantaged backgrounds achieve the same ambitious outcomes as their peers.
Equality Act 2010:
The curriculum is planned to prevent discrimination and proactively consider the needs of pupils with protected characteristics.
3. Relationships, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE)
BTS adopts the July 2025 statutory updates, with full implementation required by September 2026. Key 2025 topics included in our curriculum are:
Digital Risks:
Specific units on AI deepfakes, "sextortion," online financial exploitation, and the impact of pornography.
Safety & Ethics:
Teaching on misogyny, violence against women and girls. Health: Menstrual and gynaecological health (e.g., endometriosis), and personal safety (water, road, and rail safety).
Transparency:
All RSHE teaching materials are available for parental review upon request.
