Our Admissions Process

Launch your career in engineering or business with a qualification employers trust. Welcome to BTS and thank you for considering us. Our admissions process is straightforward. Share your goals with us, and we’ll help you select the right course, whether you are seeking academic qualifications or a trade skill. Please review the steps below. Our Admissions Team is available to assist with any questions you may have.

Step 1: Explore Courses & Entry Requirements

Browse our array of academic and technical qualifications. Compare courses by reviewing each course's entry criteria to match your eligibility.

Academic Qualifications (GCSE & GCE A-Level)

A strong academic background is required, particularly in English and Maths.
Some A-Level subjects have specific prerequisites.

+

Do you have five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above?

Do they include English and Maths? Answering 'yes' to these questions usually means you meet the academic requirements.

+

Some A-Levels, such as Maths and Sciences

Require at least a grade 6 (B) in the relevant GCSE subject.

Technical Qualifications (Plumbing, Gas, Electrical Installation)

Entry requirements for trade courses vary by level (Level 1, 2, or 3).

+

Level 1 Diplomas:

No formal qualifications are usually required, only an interest in the field and basic literacy and numeracy skills.

+

Level 2/3 Diplomas or Apprenticeships:

You generally need 4 to 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A* to C), including English and Maths.

+

Maths and English Support:

If you are under 19 and do not have a grade 4 or C in English or Maths, you will need to continue studying these subjects alongside your main qualification.
Please refer to the specific entry requirements for details.

Step 2: Submit Your Online Application

Once you have selected your course and reviewed the entry requirements, apply through our secure Application Portal.
Follow these simple steps to complete your application:

+

Visit the portal and create an account using your email address and a secure password.

+

Complete the application form with your personal and academic details.

+

Upload copies of your academic certificates.

+

Pay any application fee through the portal (if needed).

+

Submit your application before the deadline.

After reviewing your application, our admissions team will contact you to discuss your goals in an informal chat, either in person, by telephone, or via video. This is a chance for us to learn more about you and for you to ask questions about the course or facilities. Bring your questions about timetables, career outcomes, or campus life. Remember, this chat is your space too, allowing for a two-way conversation where your concerns and curiosities can be addressed.

Skills Assessment:

For some vocational courses, complete a short, supervised assessment in English and Maths. This places you at the right study level. This ten- minute check simply ensures we place you in the class where you’ll thrive.

If you succeed, you will receive your official offer by email. Most offers are conditional, meaning your place is confirmed once you meet specific criteria, such as achieving certain exam results (e.g., specific A-Level grades).

To secure your spot

Accept the offer by the deadline via your application portal account.

Step 3: Enrolment and Induction

Once you have met all conditions, you will need to attend an enrolment session at BTS to finalise your registration and provide evidence that you have met all entry conditions (e.g., showing your exam result slips).

Induction:

You will attend an induction session, receive your timetable, meet your tutors, and explore the college facilities.

We offer rolling admissions for many courses, but some have specific application periods. Please check the relevant course pages for application deadlines for the upcoming academic year.

How We Work With Your Child

At Bromley Technical School (BTS), we take responsibility for working with your child in a professional way. We follow these steps when you enroll your child with us:

The Enrollment Process:

+

Application Process:

You complete our admission application online to register your child. Your child’s application is reviewed by a member of our Admissions Team.

+

Application Payment:

You make payment online for the application form. Immediately upon receipt of your payment, we send you a receipt and confirmation.

+

Initial Assessment:

As soon as we receive payment, we arrange an initial assessment with your child. This assessment is important as it enables us to determine the standard your child has reached and what specific support or personalized lessons we can provide.

+

Confirmation of Enrollment:

When we are happy with your child’s assessment outcome, we send a formal letter confirming enrollment at Bromley Technical School.

+

Learning Agreement:

We send our student learning agreement, which you need to read and sign on behalf of your child.

+

Invoicing:

Upon receipt of your signed agreement, we will send you an invoice for tuition fees.

+

Induction Day:

Upon payment of tuition fees, your child will be invited for an induction day. During this induction, your child will be introduced to all members of staff, receive their individual lesson plan, and be informed of the school's ground rules.

+

Personal Tutor Allocation:

Your child will be allocated a personal tutor. All personal tutors are members of the pastoral team and are responsible for guiding and mentoring your child.

General Information:

+

All parents are encouraged to read our school policies on our website.

+

If you have any concerns relating to your child’s safety, please report this immediately to the School Admin Manager.

+

For full-time students, attendance is mandatory for a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Teaching Delivery:

We use a variety of teaching styles designed to meet the needs of your child. Your child will be taught in a traditional classroom setting, incorporating face-to-face instruction, role-play, dramatization, question-and-answer sessions, projects, and regular homework.

Assessment:

Your child will be assessed every month. This continuous assessment is fundamental to our educational approach. Courses that do not lead to formal qualifications will be assessed internally by BTS staff, and each child will receive a certificate of completion.
Your child will be prepared for GCSE and GCE Advanced Levels in accordance with their chosen goals and career aspirations. GCSE and GCE A Levels are external examinations, and our exam officer will work with you to register your child for the relevant external examinations.

Progression:

As soon as your child’s GCE/GCSE results are available, we will communicate with you immediately and celebrate their success with you.
We provide counselling and application support to help your child progress to university or employment.

Accept the offer by the deadline via your application portal account.

You will attend an induction session, receive your timetable, meet your tutors, and explore the college facilities.
